PRESS RELEASE
August 2010
The inaugural Mods v Rockers day in 2009 went down in history as a good spirited celebration and retrospective look at the old rivalry between Mods and Rockers of the 1960’s. The event demonstrated how riders of all types of two wheel vehicles were willing to work together to raise money for charity and help ensure the roads become a safer place for everyone on two wheels.
A great time was certainly had by all and the huge attendance raised $2,000 for the charity OzChild, in this tradition the Fifty Nine Motorcycle Club and the Melbourne Crusaders Scooter will once again co-host this big day out and fund raising event for Motorcyclists and Scooterists on Sunday 7th November 2010.
Whereas the tradition of rivalry between Mods (Scooters) and Rockers (motorcycles) is a long and well established one, on this occasion the rivalry will once again be light hearted, as will the mock skirmish and tug of war competition on Brighton Beach (Melbourne, not the UK). The re-enactment of past battles between Mods and Rockers is sure to once again bring about laughs all round and will be as much fun for the many spectators and photographers, as it will be for the Mods and Rockers who storm Brighton beach to take on their rivals of old.
Then when the Victors of the tug of war have been crowned, Motorcyclists and Scooterists will eagerly start their engines and share the road together to raise funds for charity. This is an event not to be missed and which will see some 220 scooterists and motorcyclists riding together from Brighton Beach to the Kustom Lane Gallery in Luton Lane, Hawthorn, where festivities throughout the afternoon will include a show and shine competition for motorcycles and scooters, a sausage sizzle, drinks, raffles, music and much merriment and leg pulling from all participants.
We look forward to the attendance of motorcyclists, scooterists, spectators, photographers, volunteers and just about anybody who is looking for a great day out and who is willing to help raise cash for a worthy charity.
Yours,
